About the position

The Epidemiologist III position involves performing advanced research and epidemiological work focused on maternal and infant health. This role requires minimal supervision and significant initiative, as the incumbent will lead the State Systems Development Initiative (SSDI) and enhance the state's maternal and child health data capacity. Responsibilities include data analysis, protocol development, and providing consultation to public health professionals.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the State Systems Development Initiative (SSDI) to enhance maternal and child health data capacity.
  • Analyze large data sets and complex survey data for maternal and infant health reporting.
  • Develop and maintain scientific protocols and operational manuals for projects.
  • Design and implement data collection and management tools for health surveillance.
  • Provide research consultation and technical assistance on epidemiological methods.

Requirements

  • Master's degree in epidemiology, public health, statistics, social science, or a related field.
  • Experience analyzing data using SAS.
  • One or more years of experience in epidemiology, preferably maternal and child health.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with advanced statistical techniques and methods.
  • Knowledge of laws and rules applicable to confidentiality and protected health information.
  • Familiarity with GIS mapping and dashboard techniques.
