About the position

The Equal Employment Opportunity Manager at the United States Space Force (USSF) is responsible for promoting and implementing equal opportunity programs for military and civilian personnel. This role aims to create an inclusive environment free from barriers that hinder individuals from achieving their full potential based on merit. The manager will oversee the Equal Opportunity office, providing guidance on conflict resolution and ensuring compliance with federal directives related to equal employment opportunities. This position plays a crucial role in advancing diversity, equity, and inclusion within the USSF, while also representing the Commander in various official capacities.

Responsibilities

  • Provide planning, directing, organizing, and control over the Equal Opportunity office.
  • Serve as the principal advisor to the Delegated Appointing Authority Commander on EO and conflict resolution matters.
  • Make technical and executive decisions for the Installation/Center Commander in all areas of functional responsibility.
  • Represent the Commander at meetings, conferences, and community events regarding EO and conflict resolution matters.
  • Promote and implement equal opportunity programs for military and civilian members.
  • Advance a diverse workforce by providing a planning framework for leadership and commitment to diversity.

Requirements

  • Must be a U.S. Citizen.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Secret clearance.
  • Knowledge of DoD, Air Force, MAJCOM/FLDCOM, federal law, executive orders, and local directives pertaining to EO programs.
  • Knowledge of Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) directives and guidance, and experience processing EEO complaints.
  • Ability to gather facts and use effective analytical and evaluation methods to assess information and make sound decisions.

Nice-to-haves

  • Initial 32-hour Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO) Counselor training preferred.
  • Defense Equal Opportunity Management Institute (DEOMI) training preferred.
