About the position

The Equal Employment Specialist at the Northern Arizona VA Health Care System plays a crucial role in supporting the Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO) program. This position involves assisting the EEO Manager in planning, developing, administering, and evaluating the internal EEO program, ensuring compliance with federal regulations and promoting diversity and inclusion within the organization.

Responsibilities

  • Provide administrative and technical support for EEO Program activities.
  • Serve as the Harassment Prevention Program Coordinator, addressing allegations of harassment.
  • Develop and present training programs on EEO/D&I and Affirmative Employment issues.
  • Maintain statistical data regarding the discrimination complaint process and assist with report preparation.
  • Advise management on EEO requirements and implications of provided services.
  • Assist in managing Special Emphasis Programs and analyze demographic data trends.
  • Coordinate logistics for meetings and training related to the EEO Program.
  • Draft and review correspondence and reports related to EEO policies and guidance.
  • Identify barriers to employment for minorities, women, and individuals with disabilities and propose solutions.
  • Support the EEO Program Manager in evaluating and improving the EEO/D&I Program.

Requirements

  • U.S. Citizenship is required.
  • Selective Service Registration is required for males born after 12/31/1959.
  • Must meet time-in-grade requirements for GS-9 level, having served 52 weeks at GS-7 or equivalent.
  • Specialized experience in EEO program coordination and discrimination complaint processes.
  • Education: Master's degree or equivalent graduate degree, or 2 years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to such a degree, or a combination of education and experience.
