About the position

As an Equipment Associate at United Rentals, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the smooth operation of our branch. This position involves performing a variety of manual tasks that are essential for meeting the needs of our customers. Your primary objective will be to provide labor assistance to service technicians, sales staff, and other branch personnel. This role is not only challenging but also rewarding, as it opens up opportunities for advancement into our Driver and Service Technician development programs. In this position, you will be responsible for checking equipment for damage, hours used, mileage, and fuel levels upon return to the branch. You will also inspect rental equipment for safety decals and compliance, ensuring that all equipment is in good working order. Maintaining a clean work area and cleaning all equipment is a key part of your responsibilities. Additionally, you will load and unload rental equipment, prepare it for rental, and demonstrate equipment for customers. Driving a delivery truck for pick-up and drop-off of equipment will also be part of your duties. This role is deemed Safety Sensitive, which means that diligent attention to safety is paramount. You will be expected to work effectively in a team environment, communicate clearly, and provide superior customer service. Your efforts in this position will not only contribute to the success of the branch but also pave the way for your career advancement within United Rentals.

Responsibilities

  • Check equipment for damage, hours used, mileage, and fuel level upon return to the branch.
  • Inspect rental equipment for safety decals and compliance, ensuring that equipment is in good working order.
  • Clean all equipment and maintain a clean work area.
  • Load and unload rental equipment, and prepare equipment for rental.
  • Checkout and demonstrate equipment for customers.
  • Drive a delivery truck to pick-up and drop-off equipment.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record.
  • Effective communication, multi-tasking, and strong teamwork skills.
  • Diligent attention to safety.
  • Superior customer service skills.
  • Ability to frequently lift items up to 45 lbs.
