About the position
The Equipment Design Engineer will work as part of a multi-discipline team to introduce and implement equipment for new model introductions at Honda facilities. This role involves leveraging 3D CAD software and simulation tools to identify key change points and summarize them into specifications that meet design requirements. The engineer will collaborate with design teams and plant members to ensure quality, cost, and safety criteria are met.
Responsibilities
- Review New Model Car part data for application into existing equipment and process or for new machine/process development.
- Create machine or tooling concepts utilizing 3D CAD software and 3D robotic simulation software.
- Develop specification documentation to summarize change points, establish criteria, and outline process/part flow.
- Lead meetings with customers both upstream and downstream to gain consensus.
- Create and maintain a critical path schedule to ensure overall project milestones are met.
- Conduct on-site investigations of manufacturing lines and facilities.
- Provide on-site support to install/modify equipment to validate criteria and ensure stable production.
Requirements
- 4-year Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical or Industrial Engineering or 2-year Engineering degree with related experience.
- 2-term Co-op or internship in the field of Degree.
- Knowledge of 3D CAD systems and software.
- Background in automated equipment development.
- Excellent technical communication skills (both written and oral).
