About the position

Sanmina Corporation is seeking an Equipment Maintenance Technician for its Newark, California facility. This position is crucial for maintaining the operational integrity of the facility by performing routine building maintenance tasks and minor machinery repairs. The technician will be responsible for a variety of maintenance tasks across multiple fields, including carpentry, electrical work, heating, ventilation, and plumbing. The role requires a proactive approach to identifying and addressing maintenance needs, ensuring that all systems function effectively and efficiently. The technician will inspect buildings and structures to determine the functionality of systems and detect malfunctions. This includes performing minor electrical maintenance, such as replacing or repairing fixtures, and minor plumbing tasks, including fixing leaks and unclogging drains. Additionally, the technician will engage in minor painting, carpentry, and masonry work, as well as reconfiguring and installing modular office spaces to optimize the work environment. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in mechanical and machine repair, with the ability to order parts and supplies as needed. They will also be responsible for scheduling vendors and related work, ensuring that all maintenance tasks are completed in a timely manner. The technician must possess good communication skills, both oral and written, and be proficient in using basic office software such as Excel and Word. A strong understanding of pneumatics and hydraulics is essential, along with the ability to conduct preventive maintenance and run diagnostic tests to ensure system functionality. The role requires a commitment to safety and cleanliness in the work environment, as well as the ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Responsibilities

  • Perform routine building maintenance tasks and minor machinery repairs.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 4-6 years of related experience.
  • High School Diploma required.
  • Good oral and written communication skills.
  • Proficient in PC skills using Excel, Word, and internet.
  • Ability to work on complex assignments independently with little or no direction.
  • Strong understanding of pneumatics and hydraulics.
  • Excellent problem-solving and organizational skills.
  • Ability to stand for long hours and perform some heavy lifting.
  • Commitment to following safety rules and regulations.

Nice-to-haves

  • Mechanical/machine repair experience is a plus.
