About the position

The Equipment Manager is responsible for the diagnosis, repair, and preventative maintenance of various grounds equipment, ensuring optimal performance and safety. This role involves hands-on work with mechanical systems and requires a strong understanding of maintenance practices, as well as the ability to manage parts inventory and implement cost-saving measures. The Equipment Manager will report directly to the Golf Course Superintendent and will also assist with seasonal tasks such as snow removal and general maintenance of the golf course.

Responsibilities

  • Inspects, diagnoses and repairs mechanical defects in diesel, electric and gasoline-powered grounds maintenance equipment.
  • Performs routine servicing and preventative maintenance of equipment.
  • Repairs hydraulic lines and electrical circuits.
  • Performs general overhauling and disassembles motors as needed.
  • Maintains accurate and up-to-date records related to preventative maintenance and repairs performed.
  • Maintains the parts inventory, ensures that an adequate supply is always available and orders necessary parts and shop supplies when needed.
  • Maintains detailed records of parts and labor per equipment and continually analyzes records to find effective cost saving measures.
  • Assists in establishing and implementing comprehensive preventative maintenance programs.
  • Assists with implementing cost control measures to keep expenses in line with approved budgets.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned including snow removal as part of a scheduled rotation in the winter months.

Requirements

  • Extensive knowledge of light and heavy maintenance equipment.
  • Ability to diagnose mechanical troubles and determine appropriate maintenance work.
  • Knowledge of hydraulics, electrical circuitry and welding principles.
  • Extensive knowledge of the theory, care and operation of internal combustion engines and mowing equipment.
  • Experience in the maintenance of a variety of golf course maintenance equipment.
