About the position
The County of Riverside is seeking candidates for the position of Equipment Operator I, which involves operating various motorized construction and maintenance equipment for tasks such as debris removal, street sweeping, and construction material delivery. This entry-level role requires routine maintenance work and may involve overnight stays depending on operational demands. The position is based in multiple locations throughout Riverside County, specifically in Beaumont and Perris yards.
Responsibilities
- Operate a three-axle dump truck and other truck-type equipment for construction, maintenance, and repair of public work facilities.
- Haul construction materials and recycled materials from landfill sites using a dump truck.
- Spray water, oil, and chemicals using a tank truck.
- Operate front end loader for spreading materials and loading trucks.
- Use a roller for smoothing and compacting surfaces.
- Operate small tracked and/or wheeled motorized construction equipment, including forklifts, backhoes, mowers, and D-6 sized dozers.
- Perform routine maintenance tasks such as trimming trees, clearing channels, and applying herbicides.
Requirements
- Valid unrestricted California Commercial Class A Driver's license.
- Tanker endorsement.
- Two years of experience in road construction and/or maintenance, including operating heavy equipment in public works facilities.
- Experience operating a variety of heavy construction and maintenance equipment.
- Knowledge of spraying herbicides for weed control.
