About the position

The Equipment Operator position involves operating various heavy equipment for the construction, repair, and maintenance of livestock, irrigation, and domestic water facilities. The role requires performing inspections, preventive maintenance, and repairs on equipment and water facilities, ensuring compliance with safety and operational standards.

Responsibilities

  • Operate a variety of heavy equipment including backhoe, dozer, excavator, and dump truck.
  • Perform construction, repair, and maintenance of livestock, irrigation, and domestic water facilities.
  • Conduct inspections and preventive maintenance on equipment before and after use.
  • Perform minor and major repairs on water facilities, including checking and changing lubricating fluids.
  • Monitor water levels and conduct water sampling as needed.
  • Replace parts and components of water systems, including windmills and pipes.
  • Maintain records of daily activities and equipment usage.
  • Adhere to the Drug and Alcohol Free Workplace policy.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • One year of experience operating and maintaining equipment equal to or less than 5 tons.
  • Possess a valid state driver's license.

Nice-to-haves

  • Ability to obtain a Navajo Nation Vehicle Operator's Permit within 90 days of hire.
  • Ability to obtain a Commercial Driver's License (CDL) Class A within one year of hire.
