About the position

The Equipment Operator (EO) is responsible for operating and maintaining specialized forestry equipment, including Jarraffs, brush cutters, and Timberlands. This role emphasizes safety, trustworthiness, and responsibility while performing tasks related to line clearance work, such as pruning and removing trees near electrical conductors. The EO must be knowledgeable about the equipment and safety protocols, and be prepared to support storm restoration efforts as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Operate and maintain specialized forestry equipment such as Jarraffs, brush cutters, and Timberlands.
  • Prioritize safety in all tasks and operations.
  • Demonstrate trustworthiness and responsibility in daily tasks.
  • Perform line clearance work, including pruning and removing trees near electrical conductors.
  • Inspect Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and understand when to wear it.
  • Maintain company vehicles, equipment, and tools in good working order.
  • Perform rigorous physical labor as required.
  • Follow established safety rules and company policy.

Requirements

  • Valid driver's license.
  • 1-year previous experience operating specialized equipment.
  • Ability to read and communicate effectively in English.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Willingness to work outside of normal work schedule, including weekends and holidays.
  • Ability to lift in excess of 50 lbs.
  • Willingness to work overtime when requested.

Nice-to-haves

  • Bilingual (Spanish / English) is a plus.
  • A Commercial Driver's License is strongly preferred.
