About the position

Dymax Corporation, a leader in the development of light-curable adhesives and curing equipment, is seeking an Equipment Production Manager to join our team in Torrington, Connecticut. This role is pivotal in driving a world-class electromechanical manufacturing and services department, emphasizing customer intimacy, quality, and safety. The Equipment Production Manager will be responsible for managing the department's cost efficiencies and improving productivity while ensuring that customer expectations are met or exceeded in the manufacture of new equipment. This includes managing key performance metrics for safety, quality, ISO standards, and shipping service levels, as well as leading customer inquiries and feedback processes. In this position, you will develop a vibrant and responsive production and services department by exercising strong leadership and judgment skills. This involves acquiring, developing, training, coaching, and performance managing talented personnel in Equipment Production, Repair, and Services. You will coordinate daily operations requirements and drive production efficiencies by implementing detailed, documented on-job training for operators, ensuring adherence to Work Orders, Build Sheets, and Work Instructions. The Equipment Production Manager will effectively execute the daily production plan schedule, establishing and adhering to on-time commitments while optimizing the usage of equipment, personnel, maintenance services, and resources. You will also work closely with Quality and Engineering teams to conduct root cause analyses of cycle time, yield, and process variation, aiming to reduce waste and develop new processes, procedures, and equipment specifications. Additionally, you will manage interactions and projects with various departments, including Quality, Supply Chain, Sales and Ops Planning, Manufacturing Engineering, and Equipment Engineering, to drive the manufacturing scale-up of products. Your role will also involve maximizing productivity and asset utilization by initiating and managing continuous improvement projects that reduce operator errors and improve first pass yield.

Responsibilities

  • Meet or exceed customer expectations in the manufacture of new equipment by managing key performance metrics for safety, quality, ISO standards, and shipping service levels.
  • Develop a vibrant, responsive, customer-advocating production and services department by exercising strong leadership and judgment skills to acquire, develop, train, coach, and performance manage talented Equipment Production, Repair and Services personnel.
  • Coordinate daily operations requirements and drive production efficiencies by ensuring the implementation of detailed, documented on-job training of operators in Work Orders, Build Sheets, and Work Instructions, and updating as necessary.
  • Effectively execute the daily production plan schedule by establishing and adhering to lines shipped on-time commitments, and by optimizing the usage of equipment, people, maintenance services, and resources.
  • Improve capabilities of Dymax production and quality assurance by working with Quality and Engineering in root cause analyses of cycle time, yield, and process variation to reduce waste and develop new processes, procedures, and equipment specifications.
  • Drive the manufacturing scale-up of products by managing interactions, partnerships, and projects with Quality, Supply Chain, Sales and Ops Planning, Manufacturing Engineering, and Equipment Engineering.
  • Maximize productivity and asset utilization by initiating and managing continuous improvement of Production Service and Repair projects that result in reduction of operator errors, and improvement of first pass yield.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • 3+ years of experience managing or leading teams.
  • Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering required.
  • Proficiency in ERP systems for manufacturing operations required; JE Edwards E-1 preferred.
  • Good communication and relationship skills.
  • Primarily hands-on production-floor and lab settings, with some office work.
  • Aptitude for handling service-oriented business with strong emphasis on customer support.
  • Excellent communication skills with a track record of leading and developing employees.
