About the position

The Equipment Purchasing Manager at Ceres Environmental plays a crucial role in the procurement and sourcing of equipment necessary for the company's diverse operations, which include disaster recovery, civil construction, demolition, material recycling, and environmental remediation. This position is responsible for developing and executing procurement strategies that align with the company's objectives and goals. Reporting directly to the Director of Equipment, the Equipment Purchasing Manager will manage the entire procurement process, from requisition to product and service delivery, ensuring that internal stakeholders' business requirements are met effectively. In this role, the Equipment Purchasing Manager will be tasked with identifying and evaluating potential suppliers, negotiating terms and conditions, and securing contracts that provide the best value for the company. The manager will also be responsible for fostering relationships with key suppliers, monitoring their performance, and identifying cost-saving opportunities while ensuring compliance with established policies and procedures. This position requires a proactive approach to managing the Non-Conformity Reporting program, ensuring prompt follow-up with vendors, and implementing corrective and preventative actions that support the company's business objectives. The Equipment Purchasing Manager will collaborate closely with internal stakeholders to understand their specific business needs and develop sourcing strategies that effectively address those needs. Additionally, the manager will be responsible for reporting and analyzing procurement KPIs, developing and maintaining procurement policies and procedures, and assisting in establishing inventory management practices. The role also involves maintaining accurate records of procurement activities and supplier performance, as well as analyzing and reporting on the supplier diversity program and metrics. Overall, this position is integral to driving procurement efficiencies and ensuring compliance with relevant laws and regulations.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement equipment purchasing and contract management strategies that align with the company's objectives and goals.
  • Identify and evaluate potential suppliers, negotiate terms and conditions, and secure best value contracts.
  • Manage the procurement process from requisition to product and service delivery, including identifying potential suppliers, conducting market research, issuing RFIs/RFQs/RFPs, evaluating proposals, negotiating contracts, and ensuring timely delivery of goods and services.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with key suppliers and vendors, negotiate pricing, and manage contracts to ensure compliance with established terms and conditions.
  • Manage the Non-Conformity Reporting program ensuring prompt follow up with vendors and ensure that corrective and preventative actions taken both internally and externally support our business objectives.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders to understand their business requirements and develop sourcing strategies that meet their needs.
  • Monitor supplier performance and take corrective actions when necessary to maintain quality and compliance.
  • Report and analyze Procurements KPIs.
  • Identify cost-saving opportunities, drive procurement efficiencies, and ensure compliance with established policies and procedures.
  • Develop and maintain procurement policies and procedures to ensure compliance with relevant laws and regulations.
  • Assist with establishing inventory mins and max's along with reorder points.
  • Establish and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders to drive collaboration and achieve shared goals.
  • Oversee the procurement process from requisition to delivery, ensuring compliance with organizational policies and relevant regulations.
  • Maintain accurate records of procurement activities and supplier performance.
  • Identify, research, assess capabilities of diverse vendors to create supply base across a set of spend categories.
  • Analyze and report on supplier diversity program and metrics.
  • Make key decisions and/or recommendations concerning sourcing strategy, negotiation strategy, contract awards, and supplier management.

Requirements

  • Strong knowledge and experience in negotiating with vendors.
  • Strong knowledge of contracts and contract management.
  • Ability to build and maintain effective relationships with suppliers, vendors, co-workers, and supervisors.
  • Outstanding communication and leadership skills.
  • Problem-solving and organizational skills with the ability to prioritize tasks.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and project management software applications.
  • Ability to work with a diverse population and apply decision-making and conflict resolution skills.
  • Strong MS Office skills with Excel, Power Point, Outlook, Word, Vista / Viewpoint.
  • Proficiency in using procurement ERP software.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to analyze complex procurement data and derive actionable insights.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in supply chain, preferably in construction and/or heavy equipment.
  • Proven experience in managing procurement operations.
  • Familiarity with advanced procurement software tools and ERP systems.
