Requirements

  • Completion of a High School Diploma or equivalent GED AND one (1) year of continuous, full-time paid experience performing minor maintenance on vehicles and equipment.
  • OR Completion of fifteen (15) units of accredited college level coursework in Automotive Technology, Heavy Equipment Technology or Diesel Equipment Technology AND six (6) months of continuous, full-time paid experience performing minor maintenance on vehicles and equipment.
  • OR Completion of thirty (30) units of accredited college level coursework in Automotive Technology, Heavy Equipment Technology or Diesel Equipment Technology.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with a variety of vehicles and equipment maintenance.
  • Knowledge of safety procedures related to vehicle operations and maintenance.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct minor routine maintenance tasks on City vehicles including cars, trucks, and buses.
  • Change tires, replace light bulbs, fan belts, air filters, and windshield wiper blades.
  • Check and refill vehicle fluids such as water, gas, diesel, and oil.
  • Clean vehicle exteriors and interiors to maintain cleanliness and appearance standards.
  • Utilize steam cleaners, solvents, or detergents to clean engines and engine parts effectively.
  • Assist in more complex repairs as directed by senior maintenance personnel.
  • Complete basic computer data entry for daily report completion.
  • Operate vehicles and equipment safely.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
