About the position

The Equipment Technician position at Sentinel Offender Services is an entry-level role focused on the installation, removal, and troubleshooting of electronic monitoring equipment, including GPS and alcohol testing devices. The technician will work closely with law enforcement and community corrections agencies to ensure effective monitoring solutions are implemented, contributing to the reduction of recidivism and improving reentry success for offenders. This role requires strong customer service skills and the ability to manage equipment logistics and client interactions effectively.

Responsibilities

  • Recover electronic monitoring equipment from the field.
  • Install and remove various electronic monitoring equipment as requested using directed safety precautions.
  • Provide support for service and maintenance of equipment.
  • Keep accurate records of service calls.
  • Inspect and maintain all monitoring and testing equipment, including cleaning equipment.
  • Process alarms as required during shifts if applicable to program requirements.
  • Assist with data entry of activity schedules as required.
  • Make telephone calls to participants when needed for equipment or collection purposes.
  • Maintain calibration and repair records for all equipment serviced.
  • Perform shipping and receiving functions for equipment and supplies per established procedures.
  • Diagnose and repair electronic monitoring equipment as outlined in company procedures.
  • Serve as a liaison between Sentinel and/or other contracted agencies, as needed based on duty shifts.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Basic computer skills.
  • Reliable form of transportation to ensure job attendance.
  • Ability to work flexible work schedules if needed.
  • Effective customer service skills.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with Department Personnel, Judges, and Program Participants as well as Sentinel personnel.
  • Ability to work independently and maintain an effective and efficient level of service.
  • Ability to prepare written reports and maintain accurate records.
