About the position

The Equipment Technician at AdventHealth Shawnee Mission plays a crucial role in ensuring that respiratory care equipment is thoroughly cleaned, disinfected, and sterilized according to established standards. This part-time position involves maintaining inventory, managing supplies, and providing outstanding customer service while working under the supervision of the Respiratory Care Equipment Manager.

Responsibilities

• Provide thoroughly cleaned, disinfected, and/or sterilized respiratory equipment according to established standards.
• Maintain adequate inventory, supplies, equipment, and specialty carts per department guidelines.
• Use decontamination and sterilization equipment and troubleshoot minor issues.
• Disassemble and decontaminate equipment according to manufacturer's recommendations.
• Operate mechanical washers/dryers as applicable and wear appropriate PPE during the process.
• Accurately assemble and verify the basic function of respiratory care equipment according to manufacturer's guidelines.
• Care for and handle all components of equipment to avoid unnecessary damage.
• Store equipment in the proper area and disinfect all work surfaces daily with proper disinfectant.
• Monitor the environment for cleanliness and report concerns to Manager/Supervisor/Coordinator.
• Maintain accurate logbooks and documentation related to equipment cleaning and inventory activities.
• Complete inventory, reorder, and restock supplies for the department as needed.
• Deliver equipment to Biomed when needed and receive medical gases from vendors upon delivery.

Requirements

• Ability to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing.
• Ability to work under stress and meet deadlines.

• Basic mechanical skills including disassembly, cleaning, reassembly, and verification of medical equipment function.
