About the position

The Equipment Technician at AdventHealth Shawnee Mission plays a crucial role in ensuring the proper cleaning, disinfection, and sterilization of respiratory care equipment. This position is essential for maintaining high standards of safety and hygiene in the healthcare environment, contributing to the overall well-being of patients and the community. The technician works under the supervision of the Respiratory Care Equipment Manager and is responsible for inventory management, equipment maintenance, and providing excellent customer service.

Responsibilities

• Disassemble and decontaminate respiratory equipment according to manufacturer's recommendations.
• Operate mechanical washers/dryers and wear appropriate PPE during the cleaning process.
• Accurately assemble and verify the basic function of respiratory care equipment according to guidelines.
• Care for and handle all components of equipment to avoid unnecessary damage.
• Store equipment in the proper area and disinfect work surfaces daily.
• Maintain accurate logbooks and documentation related to equipment cleaning and inventory activities.
• Complete inventory, reorder, and restock supplies for the department as needed.
• Deliver equipment to Biomed when necessary and receive medical gases from vendors upon delivery.

Requirements

• Ability to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing.
• Ability to work under stress and meet deadlines.
• Basic mechanical skills to disassemble, clean, reassemble, and verify the function of medical equipment.
