About the position

The position at Bank of America is focused on executing compliance and operational risk oversight for Front Line Units, Control Functions, and Third Parties. Responsibilities

  • Assess risks and effectiveness of Front Line Unit processes and controls to ensure compliance with applicable laws, rules, and regulations.
  • Engage in activities to provide independent compliance and operational risk oversight of Front Line Unit or Control Function performance and related third-party/vendor relationships.
  • Identify and escalate problems or issues that arise and drive actions to address the root causes of compliance risk issues and operational risk losses.
  • Manage inventory of processes, risks, controls, and associated metrics for risk appetite and limits, reporting violations of compliance or regulatory activities.
  • Assist in the development of independent risk management reporting for respective areas of coverage as input into country/regional governance and management routines.
  • Analyze and interpret applicable laws, rules, and regulations to provide clear and practical advice to stakeholders, and identify and manage risks.
  • Review and challenge Front Line Unit/Control Function processes, risks, and Risk and Control Self-Assessments while monitoring the regulatory environment for applicable changes.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 7 years of business and functional experience in risk management principles.
  • Bachelor's Degree required.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Knowledge of equities and equity derivatives market structures.
  • Familiarity with laws, rules, and regulations applicable to equities and equity derivatives.
  • Understanding of compliance program elements such as risk assessments, trade surveillance, and policy management.
  • Familiarity with trade surveillance concepts and tools.
  • Experience as an advisor to a sales and trading business, with the ability to lead projects and drive change with senior business leaders.
