About the position

The Equities Python Developer position is a critical role within the Equity Linked Technology team, focusing on the design, development, and support of the Equity Derivative infrastructure. This position requires a senior-level Python developer who will take ownership of various work streams and engage with both business and technology stakeholders to identify and implement effective solutions. The developer will facilitate design review sessions with technology teams and other partners, ensuring that all aspects of delivery to the Equity Linked Technology user community are executed efficiently. This includes everything from initial discussions with users to shaping deliverables and overseeing the production release of new functionalities. In this role, the developer will be responsible for demonstrating new functionalities to both business and technology users, designing test strategies, and preparing test cases as necessary. Close collaboration with business and technology teams is essential to gather testing requirements and acceptance criteria. The developer will also coordinate User Acceptance Testing (UAT) activities, manage releases and migration events, and track defects and their resolutions. Timely escalation of issues is crucial, as is the production of system and process documentation to ensure adherence to audit and operational standards. This position is not just about technical skills; it also requires strong problem-solving abilities and a flexible, can-do attitude, especially in a fast-paced environment with frequent release cycles and rapidly changing priorities. Effective communication across multi-disciplined teams, multiple locations, and various technology partners is vital for success in this role.

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and support Equity Derivative infrastructure.
  • Own and drive discussions/work streams with business and technology stakeholders.
  • Facilitate design review sessions with technology teams and other partners.
  • Execute all facets of delivery to the Equity Linked Technology user community.
  • Demonstrate new functionalities to business and technology users.
  • Design test strategies and prepare test cases as required.
  • Gather testing requirements and acceptance criteria from business and technology teams.
  • Coordinate UAT activities, releases, and migration events.
  • Track defects and progress of resolution.
  • Escalate issues in a timely manner and produce system and process documentation.
  • Ensure adherence to audit and operational standards.

Requirements

  • Hands-on experience and in-depth knowledge of Python application development (5+ years).
  • Experience with Java, real-time messaging, and SQL is preferred.
  • Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to address performance issues.
  • A flexible 'can do' attitude, comfortable in a fast-paced environment with frequent release cycles.
  • Ability to effectively communicate within a multi-disciplined team across multiple locations and time zones.

Nice-to-haves

  • Understanding of Equity derivative business and Quartz application development.
  • Working experience with complex systems (grid, object-oriented database, Oracle, etc.).
