About the position

The Equity Analyst position within Contra Costa County's Office of Racial Equity and Social Justice (ORESJ) is a full-time role focused on promoting racial equity and social justice throughout the county. The analyst will be responsible for analyzing policies and budgets to ensure alignment with equity goals, evaluating the impact of policies on racial justice outcomes, and providing insights to support community engagement and policy development. This role offers a unique opportunity to contribute to a pioneering initiative aimed at addressing systemic disparities and fostering inclusivity.

Responsibilities

• Analyzing policies and budgets to ensure alignment with the county's racial equity and social justice goals.
• Keeping informed of changing federal and state laws and administrative regulations affecting the county's budget and overall operations.
• Evaluating the impact of countywide policies on racial justice outcomes and recommending policy revisions and development.
• Reviewing departmental budgets, evaluating requests for adjustments, and conferring with departmental staff regarding fiscal alternatives.
• Effectively prioritizing and organizing multiple assignments and projects.
• Coordinating project teams spanning programs, divisions, and agencies to lead strategic initiatives.
• Participating in community engagement activities, offering data-driven insights.
• Providing administrative and technical support to the Equity Committee, commissions or advisory groups as assigned.

Requirements

• 2 years of experience in financial analysis and policy analysis.
• Strong understanding of social, political, cultural, legal, technological, and environmental issues.
• Experience in local government or program administration, including organization planning, budgeting, financial analysis, and performance measurement.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills for preparing reports and making presentations.
• Proficiency in word processing, spreadsheet, and software applications.
