About the position

The Equity Derivatives Lead Developer at Barclays is responsible for designing, developing, and improving software solutions for risk components in a low latency platform. This role involves collaborating with traders and quants, managing a direct report, and ensuring high-quality software delivery that aligns with business objectives. The position requires a strong understanding of Java, Spring, and other low latency technologies, as well as the ability to optimize existing systems for performance.

Responsibilities

• Analyze, design, test, and implement risk components in a highly distributed, low latency platform.
• Develop Risk and PnL components dealing directly with quant libraries.
• Work on revenue-generating business projects for the Flow Derivatives Desk.
• Analyze and review quality and information related to processes and jobs to optimize for hardware efficiencies.
• Identify low performance jobs and rewrite or redesign them to improve performance.
• Write automated test scripts using Junit and SPOCK frameworks.
• Engage with traders, quants, and business users to understand feature requests and provide support.
• Provide second-tier support by debugging and analyzing platform defects.
• Manage one direct report, overseeing their work to ensure timely and accurate business deliverables.

Requirements

• Senior level experience in software development with a focus on Java and Spring.
• Proficiency in unit testing frameworks such as JUnit and SPOCK.
• Strong negotiation skills and ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams.
• Experience in low latency technologies and distributed systems.

Nice-to-haves

• Knowledge of Reactive IO and Zero MQ.
• Experience in financial services or equity derivatives.
