About the position

The Equity & Inclusion Program Coordinator at the City of Vancouver plays a crucial role in advancing the city's strategic plan for equity and inclusion. This full-time position involves project and program coordination, equity and inclusion communications, and administrative support. The Coordinator is responsible for integrating equity and inclusion best practices, analyzing data, managing programs, and supporting employee resource groups, all while fostering a welcoming and inclusive workplace.

Responsibilities

  • Integrate equity and inclusion best practices within all job responsibilities.
  • Analyze complex equity and inclusion data.
  • Develop and administer assessment tools to evaluate and measure the impact of equity and inclusion programs.
  • Support current employee resource groups (ERGs) and expand ERGs in collaboration with HR.
  • Oversee project management of equity and inclusion programs and strategic plan.
  • Serve as an internal liaison to support the planning, logistics, and execution of various events, such as diversity celebrations and equity and inclusion workgroups.
  • Develop, lead, and maintain task forces and workgroups to implement programs and initiatives to advance equity and inclusion work.
  • Manage and lead all equity and inclusion professional development logistics and assist in creating materials.
  • Coordinate internal and external equity and inclusion-related presentations and communications, including research on equity and inclusion-related trends and policy updates.
  • Maintain equity and inclusion resources on the intranet page of the Office of Equity and Inclusion.
  • Manage, analyze, and generate reports and metrics for various equity and inclusion-related programs, initiatives, and strategic plans.
  • Build relationships with all city departments to ensure an understanding of equity and inclusion goals concerning business and employee needs.
  • Support various projects and initiatives as assigned.

Requirements

  • Two years of experience coordinating large and complex events or programs.
  • Public sector experience advocating for and implementing change within a multicultural environment, working within underrepresented/marginalized communities is preferred.
  • Education equivalent to a bachelor's degree in public administration, business, sociology, organizational psychology, ethnic studies, communication, or a related field, or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience will be considered.
  • Intermediate skills in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
  • Foundational knowledge of equity and inclusion concepts, practices, and principles.
  • Principles and methods of program creation, evaluation, and monitoring.
  • Data analytics principles and practices.
  • Project management principles and practices.
  • Principles, practices, methods, and context of diversity, equity, and inclusion programs.
  • Change management skills and related efforts.
  • Experience expressing a point of view and influencing partners.
  • Pertinent federal, state, and local laws, programs and practices related to DEI (Civil Rights laws, Title VI policies, EEO, AA, ADA, anti-discrimination, etc.).
  • Effective customer service principles and practices.
  • Best practices in DEI engagement.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience working with underrepresented/marginalized communities.
  • Knowledge of modern office procedures, methods, and computer equipment.

Benefits

  • Full-time position with a salary range of $5,394 - $7,298 a month.
  • Regular work schedule from Monday to Friday, 8am to 5pm.
