About the position

As a Barclays Equity Research Analyst in the Energy sector, you will analyze industry macro trends and company financials, preparing research reports that provide differentiated market insights and actionable ideas for Barclays clients. This role involves collaboration with various stakeholders and requires strong analytical skills, financial modeling expertise, and effective communication abilities.

Responsibilities

  • Analyze market, sector, corporate, and economic data to develop investment theses for your coverage universe.
  • Produce best-in-class research ranging from individual company or sector notes to long-dated thematic reports.
  • Present research views to Barclays clients through direct interactions, research-hosted events, and written communications.
  • Engage with Markets, Client Strategy, and other stakeholders to raise awareness of your research.
  • Provide insights and research views to internal clients to help navigate financial markets and risks.
  • Collaborate with the Supervisory Analyst, Compliance, and other stakeholders to ensure compliant research delivery.
  • Advise and influence decision-making, contributing to policy development and operational effectiveness.
  • Lead a team performing complex tasks, setting objectives and coaching employees.
  • Consult on complex issues and provide advice to People Leaders to resolve escalated issues.
  • Identify ways to mitigate risk and develop new policies/procedures in support of the control and governance agenda.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree is required; 2+ years of relevant experience in sell-side Equity Research or Investment Banking is preferred.
  • Knowledge of equity research content and solid experience with stakeholder management skills.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills with exemplary interpersonal skills.
  • Financial experience including financial modeling, financial statement analysis, and supporting large data sets.
  • FINRA licensing (SIE, S63, S86, S87) is required, with sponsorship available for unregistered candidates.
  • CFA Level 1 is highly preferred.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a resourceful, entrepreneurial spirit.
  • Ability to multi-task in a time-sensitive environment while maintaining attention to detail.

Benefits

  • Competitive salary range of $125,000 to $175,000 based on experience and qualifications.
