About the position

TD Cowen is seeking an Associate to join its Consumer - Hardlines Equity Research team in New York. This role involves working closely with the Senior Research Analyst on various aspects of the research process, including financial modeling, analysis, and writing investment-driven research reports. The Associate will have significant responsibilities and exposure to company management, the Sales and Trading team, and investor conferences, playing a critical role in corporate access programs.

Responsibilities

  • Build and maintain financial models for research purposes.
  • Perform financial analysis and due diligence on consumer hardlines sectors.
  • Write investment-driven research reports and develop industry surveys.
  • Conduct competitive assessments and industry analyses.
  • Collaborate with senior research leads on ongoing publication of research reports.
  • Assist in the development of valuation tools and forecasting models.
  • Compile, analyze, and evaluate data related to assigned companies and industries.
  • Maintain and enhance financial models and databases.
  • Stay current on market data and key industry developments.
  • Develop and present client presentations.

Requirements

  • Undergraduate degree in business or a quantitative area of study with a strong GPA preferred.
  • Up to two years of relevant experience in financial services (buy side, sell side, banking, or PE).
  • Experience in home improvement, auto aftermarket, and furniture preferred but not essential.
  • CFA or CFA track is a plus.
  • Exceptionally strong quantitative, financial modeling, and Excel skills.
  • Strong written, verbal communication, and presentation skills.
  • Proven ability to work well on teams and self-motivated with a strong work ethic.
  • Securities licenses preferred (series 7/SIE, 63, 86, 87).

Nice-to-haves

  • Masters or PhD preferred.
  • Experience in consumer hardlines sectors.
