About the position

TD Cowen, a division of TD Securities, is seeking an Equity Research Associate to join its Healthcare, Biotechnology team in New York. This role involves analyzing public biotechnology companies and making stock recommendations to institutional investors. The successful candidate will support a Senior Research Analyst in various tasks including financial modeling, conducting interviews, and writing research reports, while also gaining expertise in both scientific and financial domains.

Responsibilities

• Support a Senior Research Analyst in analyzing biotech companies and market trends.
• Compose company-specific and thematic research reports.
• Build and maintain financial and market models.
• Interview physicians and company executives.
• Conduct deep scientific and clinical due diligence.
• Interact with Cowen's institutional sales force, traders, investment bankers, and investor clients.
• Compile, analyze, and evaluate data for research reports.
• Assist in the development of valuation tools and provide advice to institutional clients.
• Prepare forecasting models and maintain financial models and databases.
• Stay current on market data and key industry developments.

Requirements

• Undergraduate degree in a relevant field.
• Higher degree in a life science-related field (PhD and/or M.D.) preferred.
• CFA designation preferred for publishing analysts and associates.
• 2+ years of related experience in equity research or finance.
• Exceptional analytical skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to conduct deep primary research and analyze complex information.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Proven ability to work well in teams and self-motivated.

Nice-to-haves

• MBA or CFA designation is a plus.
