About the position

The Equity Research Associate position at KeyBank in New York City is designed for an individual who will work closely with senior research professionals to assist in the preparation and execution of analyses of companies within the medical technology sector. This role involves a comprehensive approach to collecting, evaluating, and applying statistical and financial data related to the economy and financial markets, specifically focusing on researching common stocks within designated industries. The associate will be responsible for analyzing and synthesizing researched data, presenting trends and ideas that pertain to business opportunities and investment decision-making processes. In this position, the associate will formulate and issue opinions and recommendations on securities and companies across one or more industry groups. This includes preparing detailed reports, opinions, recommendations, and statistical data, which will assist in the formulation of the investment policies and recommendations of the firm. The associate will also be tasked with answering inquiries from firm personnel regarding individual securities or industry groups, and preparing studies and other data for publication to the general public. Additionally, the role requires the preparation and dissemination of special studies, models, forecasts, and presentations to provide information to the Syndicate or Investment Banking groups regarding security offerings and underwriting. The associate will engage in interviews with company executives or industry leaders to develop and maintain sources of information that will aid in the preparation of analyses. Maintaining company databases using spreadsheet and database software is also a critical component of this role.

Responsibilities

  • Collect and evaluate statistical and financial data on the economy and financial markets.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree, preferably in business, accounting, or finance.
  • Completion of no less than 3 senior-level accounting and/or financial analysis courses.
  • One year of experience in an analytical or financial role.
  • Corporate financial modeling experience.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Research skills and the ability to organize, analyze, and interpret data.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and Access.
  • Clear interest in financial markets.
  • Ability to synthesize data and articulate findings through excellent presentation skills.

Benefits

  • Base salary range of $85,000 to $150,000 annually depending on experience and education.
  • Eligibility for short-term incentive compensation.
  • Deferred incentive compensation based on individual and company performance.
