About the position

The Equity Research Associate for Property and Casualty (P&C) Insurance at Raymond James Financial, Inc. plays a crucial role in supporting the Equity Analyst by utilizing specialized knowledge and skills acquired through experience and training. This position involves preparing comprehensive industry and company research, which includes collecting, organizing, and analyzing data, as well as writing investment-related research reports and maintaining financial models. The associate will be responsible for assembling and analyzing data on select growth companies, helping to identify and formulate new investment ideas within targeted industry groups to foster new business activity. The ideal candidate for this role is expected to be client-service oriented, detail-oriented, and capable of thriving in a fast-paced, team-driven environment. The associate will develop expertise on the industry and related companies to assess the relevance of news and other data. This includes performing both quantitative and qualitative analyses of macroeconomic variables that impact the assigned industry. The role also requires maintaining databases and spreadsheets related to the industry and its companies, developing financial models for revenue and income forecasts, cash flow analysis, balance sheet assessments, and quarterly projections. Additionally, the associate will prepare internal and external reports and presentations to effectively communicate research findings, news events, and investment ideas derived from security analyses. Collaboration with Senior Research Analysts is essential in defining and documenting objectives and approaches for specific research projects. The position may also involve other duties and responsibilities as assigned, contributing to the overall success of the research team.

Responsibilities

  • Support Equity Analyst in preparing industry and company research by collecting, organizing, and analyzing data.
  • Write investment-related research reports and create/maintain financial models.
  • Assemble and analyze data on select growth companies.
  • Identify and formulate new investment ideas in targeted industry groups.
  • Develop expertise on industry and related companies to assess the relevance of news and other data.
  • Perform quantitative and qualitative analysis of macroeconomic variables that impact assigned industry.
  • Maintain databases and spreadsheets pertaining to their industry and related companies.
  • Develop financial models for revenue and income forecasts, cash flow analysis, balance sheet, and quarterly projections.
  • Prepare internal and external written reports and presentations to communicate research findings, news events, and investment ideas.
  • Work with Senior Research Analysts in defining and documenting objectives and approaches for specific research projects.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree (B.S.) in business-related or data analytics field.
  • Demonstrated interest in the financial markets or equivalent combination of experience, education, and/or training approved by Human Resources.
  • Knowledge of the company's working structure, policies, mission, and strategies.
  • Advanced concepts, practices, and procedures of Equity Research.
  • Understanding of principles of banking, finance, and securities industry operations.
  • Familiarity with financial markets and products.
  • Skill in identifying relationships, drawing logical conclusions, interpreting results, and communicating findings both orally and in writing.
  • Quantitative and analytical analysis sufficient to assist in the development of corporate financial projections and equity valuation metrics.
  • Ability to use technical/professional knowledge, interpersonal and sales skills to obtain customers' commitment to ideas, services, or products.
  • Experience in accounting and financial statement analysis.
  • Proficiency in building accurate computer-generated financial models.
  • Intermediate/advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office suite, especially Excel.
  • Data analytics/coding skills strongly preferred.
  • Ability to organize, manage, and track multiple detailed tasks and assignments with critical deadlines in a fast-paced work environment.
