About the position

The Equity Research Associate for Property and Casualty (P&C) Insurance at Raymond James Financial, Inc. plays a crucial role in supporting the Equity Analyst by utilizing specialized knowledge and skills acquired through experience and training. This position involves collecting, organizing, and analyzing data to prepare comprehensive industry and company research. The associate will be responsible for writing investment-related research reports and creating and maintaining financial models that are essential for assessing the performance of select growth companies. The ideal candidate will be detail-oriented, client-service oriented, and thrive in a fast-paced, team-driven environment. In this role, the associate will develop expertise in the P&C insurance industry and related companies, allowing them to assess the relevance of news and data impacting the sector. They will perform both quantitative and qualitative analyses of macroeconomic variables that influence the assigned industry. The associate will maintain databases and spreadsheets related to their industry and will develop financial models for revenue and income forecasts, cash flow analysis, balance sheets, and quarterly projections. Additionally, they will prepare internal and external reports and presentations to communicate research findings, news events, and investment ideas derived from security analyses. The associate will collaborate closely with Senior Research Analysts to define and document objectives and approaches for specific research projects. This position requires a strong understanding of the company's structure, policies, and strategies, as well as advanced concepts in equity research, banking, finance, and securities operations. The ability to communicate findings effectively, both orally and in writing, is essential, as is the capacity to manage multiple tasks and deadlines in a dynamic work environment.

Responsibilities

  • Support Equity Analyst in preparing industry and company research by collecting, organizing, and analyzing data.
  • Write investment-related research reports and create/maintain financial models.
  • Assemble and analyze data on select growth companies.
  • Identify and formulate new investment ideas in targeted industry groups.
  • Develop expertise on industry and related companies to assess the relevance of news and data.
  • Perform quantitative and qualitative analysis of macroeconomic variables impacting the assigned industry.
  • Maintain databases and spreadsheets pertaining to the industry and related companies.
  • Develop financial models for revenue and income forecasts, cash flow analysis, balance sheets, and quarterly projections.
  • Prepare internal and external written reports and presentations to communicate research findings and investment ideas.
  • Work with Senior Research Analysts to define and document objectives and approaches for specific research projects.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree (B.S.) in business-related or data analytics field.
  • Demonstrated interest in the financial markets or equivalent combination of experience, education, and/or training approved by Human Resources.
  • Knowledge of advanced concepts, practices, and procedures of Equity Research.
  • Understanding of principles of banking, finance, and securities industry operations.
  • Ability to perform quantitative and analytical analysis sufficient to assist in corporate financial projections and equity valuation metrics.
  • Skill in identifying relationships, drawing logical conclusions, and interpreting results.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite, with intermediate/advanced knowledge of Excel.
  • Data analytics and coding skills strongly preferred.
  • Ability to organize, manage, and track multiple detailed tasks and assignments with critical deadlines.
