About the position

The Equity Research Associate at Mizuho Corporate Bank will play a crucial role in supporting the Senior Analyst who covers Real Estate Investment Trusts (REITs). This position involves a variety of responsibilities centered around gathering and analyzing industry information, financial modeling, and writing comprehensive reports on the REITs sector and the companies under coverage. The ideal candidate will be adept at communicating investment ideas and relevant industry information to both the internal sales team and external investors, ensuring that all stakeholders are well-informed and equipped to make strategic decisions. Key responsibilities include building dynamic industry models that integrate Income Statements, Balance Sheets, and Cash Flow Statements. The associate will also be tasked with writing detailed research reports, which may include company initiations, industry thought pieces, and earnings recaps. Sourcing alternative data sets is another critical aspect of the role, as the associate will need to simplify and summarize relevant industry and company information for inclusion in these reports. Conducting proprietary research to evaluate the competitive landscape and analyze industry and company news is essential, as is creating and maintaining relationships with industry contacts. Additionally, the associate will assist the senior analyst in preparing for marketing events and conferences, contributing to the overall success of the team. Candidates for this position should be highly motivated professionals capable of thriving in a fast-paced environment. Strong analytical and financial modeling skills using Excel are required, along with the ability to write clearly and concisely. Effective oral communication skills, organizational abilities, and time management skills are also essential. The candidate should be able to function independently while maintaining a collegial and collaborative approach to working with other team members. A minimum of two years of sell-side or buy-side equity research experience is required, with prior direct experience in the REITs sector and/or real estate industry being a significant plus. Compensation for this role is competitive and commensurate with experience and capabilities, with a base salary range of $100,000 to $180,000, along with eligibility for a discretionary bonus.

Responsibilities

  • Building dynamic industry models consisting of integrated Income Statement/Balance Sheet/Cash Flow Statements
  • Writing research reports, including company initiations, industry thought pieces, and earnings recaps
  • Sourcing alternative data sets and simplifying and summarizing relevant industry and company information for inclusion in research reports
  • Conducting proprietary research evaluating the competitive landscape, and analyzing industry/company news
  • Creating and maintaining relationships with industry contacts
  • Helping senior analyst prepare for marketing events and conferences
