About the position

The Equity Research Senior Associate position at Truist Financial Corporation is a pivotal role within the Corporate and Institutional Banking sector, specifically focusing on the biopharma industry. The primary responsibility of this role is to publish proprietary equity research that showcases the firm's expertise in the sector. This involves creating and disseminating research content that includes stock recommendations such as Buy, Hold, or Sell, aimed at institutional buy-side clients. The associate will conduct thorough due diligence and provide industry expertise for capital markets equity transactions, ensuring that institutional equity clients have access to high-level corporate resources, including C-suite corporate access through various means such as non-deal roadshows, conferences, and field trips. In addition to research publication, the role requires independent assessments of the industry and company-specific research reports. The associate will engage with corporate client relationships at the highest levels, including CEOs, Presidents, and other C-level executives. The position also involves close collaboration with senior analysts throughout the research production process, conducting macro, industry, and company-level research, and building comprehensive financial models that forecast market trends, revenue, earnings per share (EPS), and cash flow. The associate will be responsible for conducting financial and valuation analyses, formulating investment ideas, and drafting research commentary. Depending on their experience, they may also work closely with Capital Markets, sales, and trading teams to leverage the research product into the institutional client base. The role may also involve maintaining active dialogue with representatives of covered companies and institutional buy-side clients to enhance the research product's impact.

Responsibilities

  • Creating and publishing proprietary equity research content in designated industry with stock recommendations (Buy, Hold, Sell) to institutional buy-side clients.
  • Conduct due diligence and provide industry expertise for capital markets equity transactions.
  • Responsible for initiating C-suite corporate access resources to institutional equity clients including non-deal roadshows, conferences, field trips, bus tours, and conference calls.
  • Conduct independent industry assessments and company-specific research reports.
  • Involvement with corporate client relationships at the highest C-Level (CEO, President, COO, CFO, Director of Strategy, etc).
  • Works closely with senior analyst in the research production process as well as with the supervisory analysts in the publication process.
  • Conducts research at several levels: macro, industry and individual companies.
  • Builds models at the industry and company level, including market and market share forecasts, revenue, EPS, and cash flow forecasts at the company level.
  • Conducts financial and valuation analyses.
  • Formulates investment ideas.
  • Writes draft research commentary.
  • May work closely with Capital Markets, sales, and trading to help leverage the analyst's research product into the institutional client base.
  • May maintain active dialog with representatives of covered companies.
  • May work closely with institutional buyside clients to help leverage the analyst's research product.

Requirements

  • BA/BS degree
  • Licenses Required: the SIE and the 7 Top Off (or Series 7 for those licensed prior to October 2019), Series 63, Series 87 and either the Series 86 or a FINRA waiver for those who have completed CFA II.
  • Minimum of 5 years of related work experience or academic study beyond BA/BS.
  • Mastery of financial and accounting concepts to facilitate the creation of in-depth financial models.
  • Advanced written and oral communication skills and teaming ability.
  • Strong analytical and sales skills.
