About the position

The Equity Risk Officer at IFC will be responsible for providing independent risk assessments for investment transactions and portfolio actions, ensuring compliance with IFC's investment standards. This role involves collaborating with investment teams to identify and mitigate equity risks, while also contributing to the development of an investment culture within the organization through knowledge management and mentoring activities.

Responsibilities

  • Review and approve equity, quasi-equity, and debt investment proposals and portfolio actions.
  • Assist the Chief Equity Risk Officer in discussions with transaction teams and decision-making processes.
  • Lead the review of equity valuation analysis for new business and portfolio investments.
  • Facilitate the incorporation of CIR feedback in investment materials to enhance decision-making efficiency.
  • Support data analytics related to new business and portfolio actions, tracking commitments and outcomes.
  • Analyze macro, sectoral, and portfolio trends, summarizing insights for stakeholders and senior management.
  • Participate in quarterly equity portfolio reviews, ensuring relevant feedback is communicated effectively.
  • Support the processing of fund investments and early look committee activities as needed.
  • Prepare training materials and knowledge management resources for sectors and products of responsibility.
  • Assist in the preparation of corporate guidelines for various investment products.

Requirements

  • Master's degree in a relevant field.
  • Minimum of 8 years of experience in investment/risk management, particularly in equity and debt products within emerging markets.
  • Significant experience in credit risk management with exposure to various subsectors and products.
  • Proven ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks in a complex organization.
  • Prior experience with investment products and sectors such as infrastructure and financial markets is a plus.
  • Strong analytical skills and ability to critically review credit assessments.
  • Expert knowledge of equity valuation techniques and methodologies.
  • Familiarity with IFC risk rating tools and methodologies is a plus.

Nice-to-haves

  • Fluency in additional languages is an advantage.
  • Field experience in IFC's strategic markets is a plus.
  • Interest and experience in knowledge management.
