About the position

The ER Admissions Representative at Texoma Medical Center is responsible for performing pre-admission and admission services for all patients in the hospital. This role involves accurately identifying patients, maintaining their information in the Electronic Medical Record (EMR), collecting financial information, and ensuring proper documentation and consent are obtained. The representative plays a crucial role in facilitating patient rights and privacy while managing financial responsibilities at the time of admission or discharge.

Responsibilities

• Perform pre-admission and admission services for all patients in the hospital.
• Correctly identify patients and maintain accurate patient information within the Electronic Medical Record (EMR).
• Collect financial information including payment from the patient/guarantor.
• Obtain insurance information, benefits, and authorizations for services.
• Calculate insurance company co-payments, deductibles, and collect financial responsibility due from patients at the time of admission or discharge.
• Obtain medical and financial consents, securing proper signatures on required documents.
• Provide required information to patients concerning their Patient Rights, Privacy, and Advance Care Directives.

Requirements

• Minimum of 6 months general public contact experience, preferably in a healthcare or healthcare insurance setting.
• Reading and numerical competency.
• Ability to handle detail work accurately and rapidly.
• Good listening, verbal, and written communication skills.
• Ability to appropriately handle high-stress situations.
• Basic computer and internet experience.
