As an ERP Database Administrator (DBA) at Mid-West Wholesale Hardware Inc., you will play a crucial role in managing and optimizing our P21 databases, primarily utilizing Microsoft SQL Server. Your responsibilities will encompass a wide range of database management tasks, including administration, modeling, and development. You will ensure optimal performance, availability, and security of the databases, which are vital for our operations. This position requires a senior-level understanding of database structures and the ability to implement best practices based on application requirements. In this role, you will create and maintain both logical and physical data models to ensure data integrity and efficient resource utilization. You will monitor database performance, troubleshoot issues, and implement solutions to enhance efficiency. Collaboration with cross-functional teams will be essential as you work to understand data requirements and provide effective database solutions. You will also manage user access and permissions, ensuring compliance with security policies and regulatory requirements. Your responsibilities will include planning and executing database upgrades, patches, and migrations while minimizing downtime and impact on business operations. You will oversee SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS) to design, develop, and deploy reports for various stakeholders across the organization. Additionally, you will create and maintain SSIS packages used for importing, exporting, and updating data. Data security and integrity are paramount in this role. You will implement and maintain robust security measures to protect sensitive data, perform regular data integrity checks, and address any discrepancies. Regular audits and updates of user permissions and access controls will also be part of your duties. Performance tuning and query optimization will be critical aspects of your role. You will conduct regular performance tuning of database systems to ensure efficient and fast query execution. Collaborating with the data science team, you will optimize SQL queries and improve overall system performance. Writing efficient, well-documented SQL queries to extract, update, and manipulate data will be a key responsibility. You will also collaborate with the technology team to develop and implement backup and recovery strategies to safeguard critical data, ensuring that backups are tested and verified for restoration capabilities. Comprehensive documentation of database configurations, procedures, and troubleshooting steps will be maintained, along with updates to database-related policies and best practices. As a critical business partner, you will work with end users to understand their business requirements for reports and processes, assisting them in defining those requirements. You will also collaborate with outside vendors to develop and expand business solutions, such as SLIM4 and Salesforce, and assist power users with queries against the data warehouse and data lake.
