About the position

The ERP Implementation Project Manager at The Safariland Group plays a crucial role in overseeing the implementation and support of Microsoft Dynamics AX, a key business system that enhances the company's operational efficiency. This position involves a blend of project management, business analysis, and application design, aimed at improving business processes and leveraging technology to boost revenue, reduce costs, and enhance customer service. The Project Manager will be responsible for identifying opportunities for improvement within the organization and will work closely with various stakeholders to ensure that the project aligns with the company's strategic goals. In this role, the Project Manager will act as the primary liaison between the IT department and the business units, facilitating meetings, gathering requirements, and ensuring that all project milestones are met. The individual will direct the activities of external consultants, assist in their selection, and manage the overall project life cycle from initiation through to deployment and close-out. This includes building and maintaining project plans, tracking progress, managing budgets, and communicating effectively with all stakeholders throughout the project. The Project Manager will also conduct periodic reviews to assess project progress, manage risks, and ensure that the project adheres to established standards and methodologies. Additionally, the role requires a strong focus on business analysis, where the Project Manager will evaluate business systems and user needs, document requirements, and propose technology solutions that enhance productivity and customer service. Training and support for the user community will also be a key responsibility, ensuring that all users are equipped to utilize the new systems effectively.

Responsibilities

  • Acts as Project Manager/Information Technology representative for key business system initiatives including implementing and supporting MS Dynamics AX.
  • Directs the activities of external consultants assigned to work on the project(s).
  • Assists in the selection of the consultants.
  • Builds and maintains Project Plans as required for IT Projects.
  • Plans, schedules and tracks progress on project timelines, milestones and deliverables using appropriate tools.
  • Identifies and manages project dependencies and critical path.
  • Directs and manages the project life cycle from project initiation and planning through execution, deployment and close-out.
  • Manages the project budget.
  • Collaborates with sponsors and stakeholders to define the project business case including project scope, goals and deliverables that support business goals.
  • Manages project communication throughout the life cycle of the project.
  • Communicates and manages Project Risks.
  • Conducts periodic project reviews with key stakeholders, sponsors and team members to provide progress.
  • Develops and implements project management processes and methodologies to ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget, adhere to standards and meet customer expectations.
  • Provides business analysis, and recommends best course of action focusing on business process first, technology second.
  • Reviews, analyzes, and evaluates business systems and end user needs.
  • Identifies and documents business requirements which could be automated using current/new technology to improve productivity, reduce costs, better serve the customer, or increase revenues.
  • Designs, develops, configures and maintains business applications per user specifications using Safariland standard technologies.
  • Proposes solutions to best meet the requirements of the organization.
  • Sets up procedures and testing methods to ensure the ongoing accuracy of data maintained within all applications.
  • Acts as liaison between the organization and application vendors for implementation, problem resolution, application upgrades and bug fixes.
  • Provides support and training to user community.
  • Stays on top of current and new technologies and makes recommendations to implement those which would have a positive impact on the division's business.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 12 years' experience in Information Technology with 8 years as a Business Analyst / Project Manager implementing and supporting MS Dynamics AX.
  • PMP Certification.
  • College degree in Business Administration, Computer Science, or a related field.
  • Experienced in MS Dynamics AX implementation and Support.
  • Excellent client relation, verbal, written and interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills.
  • Ability to identify priorities and manage tasks.
  • Ability to work closely within a team as well as independently.
  • Knowledgeable in the Microsoft Office Suite, experience with SharePoint and Visio.
  • Experience with a project management tool - MS Project or other.
  • Must have excellent project management skills.
  • Ability to work in a dynamic / changing environment.
