About the position

The primary function of the Senior Sales Engineer is to plan and execute sales and marketing efforts for the Service Center. This role involves utilizing all principles of effective salesmanship, which includes personal client visits, telephone selling, group selling, territory and account management, and participation in technical and professional associations. The Senior Sales Engineer is responsible for developing comprehensive proposals in collaboration with the Operations Department and corporate staff. Additionally, this position includes mentoring Associate Sales Engineers, Inside Sales Engineers, or Sales Engineers in technical aspects, sales skills, marketing functions, and other necessary skill sets required for field Sales Engineers. In this role, the Senior Sales Engineer will perform sales support to consistently meet overall area sales goals. This includes making regular sales calls on existing major accounts and establishing contact with new accounts. The individual will be expected to make effective customer presentations, ensuring that proposal pricing is accurate and technically correct. A strong ability to sell maintenance, engineering services, and professional services is required. The Senior Sales Engineer will also be tasked with developing new accounts, selling to national accounts, and making sales calls at the VP level. Marketing support is also a key responsibility, promoting the Company's image throughout the industry and implementing area marketing plans on a monthly basis. The Senior Sales Engineer will assist corporate needs in new service assessments, marketing research, and literature development, while also performing public relations to promote sales. Active participation in trade shows and professional societies is expected, along with the ability to give effective group presentations for both internal and external customers. As a member of the Area Management Committee, the Senior Sales Engineer will contribute to the development of the area sales and marketing plan, providing input and new ideas on sales and marketing activities. Mentoring and training new sales associates in the fundamentals of Company sales is also a critical aspect of this role, which includes assessing their initial skill level and technical expertise and providing a recommended sales training schedule to the regional manager.

Responsibilities

  • Perform sales support to consistently meet overall area sales goals.

  • Perform public relations to promote sales.
  • Participate actively in trade shows and professional societies.

  • Actively participate as a member of the Area Management Committee.
  • Assist in the development of the area sales and marketing plan.
  • Provide input and new ideas on Sales and Marketing activities.
  • Act as mentor and trainer to new sales associates in the fundamentals of Company sales.
  • Assess the initial skill level and technical expertise of new sales associates and provide a recommended sales training schedule.

Requirements

  • Graduate engineer (BSEE/BSME) with no experience, or a graduate of electrical technical school or equivalent with five years of similar work, or a high school diploma or equivalent with eight years of similar work.
  • Willingness to work flexible hours, including weekends and some overnight travel to cover the sales territory.
  • Ability to regularly sit, stand, walk, use hands and fingers, talk, and hear.
  • Specific vision abilities required include close vision and the ability to adjust focus.
  • Valid Driver's License is required.
