About the position
The ESE Instructional Support Professional at Mariner High is responsible for assisting instructional staff in meeting the academic needs of students. This role involves working closely with students to reinforce learning, support instructional objectives, and implement lesson plans under the supervision of teachers. The position requires a commitment to fostering a positive learning environment and supporting the individual needs of students, particularly those with special educational needs.
Responsibilities
- Assist in the instructional process by working with students individually or in small groups.
- Supplement regular instruction and implement teacher-developed lesson plans under supervision.
- Prepare, organize, and use instructional aids, materials, and technology as directed.
- Reinforce positive learning and behavior patterns among students.
- Assist students in developing necessary study skills for learning.
- Support parental involvement activities.
- Demonstrate understanding and respect for individual students' cultures and interests.
- Maintain confidentiality regarding student information.
- Perform related clerical and recordkeeping duties as directed.
- Provide support in a computer laboratory, library/media center, and other learning facilities when appropriate.
- Assist in the implementation of a student's Individual Education Plan (IEP).
- Monitor student behavior/activity in various campus locations.
Requirements
- High School diploma or equivalent required.
- One year of related experience preferred.
- Completion of two years of study at an institution of higher learning or an Associate's degree, or successful completion of a formal academic assessment.
