About the position

The ESG Controller plays a crucial role in ensuring compliance and excellence in ESG reporting within Amer Sports' Financial Reporting team. This position connects finance-related data with evolving ESG reporting regulations, collaborating with various stakeholders to meet global ESG regulatory requirements. The role involves managing the implementation of new ESG standards, enhancing systems and processes, and supporting both mandatory and voluntary ESG reporting.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as a subject matter expert on global ESG reporting matters within the Financial Reporting team.
  • Manage the implementation of new ESG standards and related policies in coordination with Finance and the Sustainability Team.
  • Provide support to Global Finance, Accounting, and other teams in implementing new ESG reporting standards and policies.
  • Draft ESG disclosures and enhance data quality and processes.
  • Work with internal stakeholders, such as IT, to automate data collection and analysis.
  • Offer ESG accounting/reporting-related training to finance and accounting teams worldwide.
  • Develop and maintain an ESG reporting handbook and policies aligned with SEC and CSRD requirements.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to gather and verify data for consolidated ESG reporting and support internal/external audits.
  • Establish and maintain an ESG governance and control framework in partnership with Risk & Controls, Internal Audit, and the Sustainability team.
  • Identify and implement improvements to financial reporting processes and systems.
  • Stay up to date on relevant ESG reporting regulations and standards and implement necessary changes to accounting and reporting practices.
  • Support other finance-related projects as assigned.

Requirements

  • Undergraduate degree in a relevant field; CPA and/or Master's degree (MBA, Accounting, etc.) strongly preferred.
  • U.S. CPA license or equivalent preferred.
  • 10+ years of relevant experience, ideally a combination of Big 4 public accounting and public company industry experience.
  • Strong knowledge of ESG reporting standards (e.g., SEC, CSRD, GRI) and non-financial reporting practices.
  • Expertise in U.S. GAAP technical accounting and SEC reporting, with familiarity in SOX internal controls and COSO.
  • Proven advisory and consultative skills with the ability to build strong working relationships across global teams.
  • Experience implementing accounting standards and managing special projects.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to explain complex accounting/reporting issues clearly.
  • Proficiency in ESG data management systems and tools for data collection, analysis, and reporting.
