About the position

The ESG Data Governance Manager at PayPal is responsible for leading the company's efforts in ESG reporting and compliance. This role involves managing ESG data flow, ensuring accuracy and consistency, and aligning company policies with regulatory obligations. The manager will work closely with cross-functional teams to oversee data collection, maintain internal controls, and support change management initiatives related to ESG reporting.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee the data collection and validation processes for ESG data.
  • Partner with internal data stewards to collect data points outside the data lake.
  • Analyze data variances and trends to maintain accuracy across all ESG data points.
  • Serve as the primary system administrator handling system issues and coordinating system upgrades.
  • Develop and maintain process documentation, including SOPs, issue trackers, and inventories.
  • Monitor and interpret regulatory changes related to ESG reporting requirements, particularly focusing on CSRD.
  • Ensure timely and accurate submission of ESG ad-hoc reports to regulatory bodies.
  • Support change management initiatives related to ESG reporting and compliance in partnership with the ESG team.
  • Communicate updates in regulatory requirements and reporting processes to relevant stakeholders.
  • Monitor internal initiatives to ensure proper impact assessments and documentation of relevant changes to ESG regulatory reports.
  • Develop and implement robust internal controls to ensure data integrity and compliance.
  • Regularly review and update ESG reporting processes and procedures.
  • Support internal and external audits and assessments of ESG data and reporting practices.
  • Collaborate with internal data stewards to validate data according to the appropriate processes and controls.
  • Partner with ESG team to inform corporate sustainability strategy and align reporting.
  • Liaise with external auditors and regulatory authorities as needed.
  • Provide training and support to staff on ESG reporting requirements and best practices.
  • Stay updated on industry best practices and emerging trends in ESG reporting and propose process improvements.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Business, or related field.
  • Familiarity with the GHG Protocol for measuring and managing greenhouse gas emissions.
  • Essential understanding of ESG standards and regulatory requirements, especially CSRD is a plus.
  • Experience in financial audit and/or building processes and controls.
  • Proven experience in regulatory reporting.
  • Excellent analytical and data management skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Effective communication and collaboration skills.
  • Proficiency in relevant software and tools for data analysis and reporting.
