The ESL Instructor position is a part-time role focused on providing English as a Second Language (ESL) and Family Literacy instruction tailored to meet the individual academic needs of students. The instructor will work with at-risk students and displaced workers, preparing them for higher education or entry into the job market. The role involves delivering a self-paced program that assists students in learning the English language, covering essential skills such as grammar, writing, reading, speaking, listening, pronunciation, and accent reduction. The instructor will also facilitate instruction aimed at enhancing students' academic skills and will maintain detailed portfolios for each student, documenting their attendance and academic progress. Additionally, the instructor will introduce American civic values, culture, and customs to newcomers in the United States, ensuring a comprehensive educational experience. The ESL Instructor will report to the ELA Coordinator and the Director of College and Career Readiness and HRD. Responsibilities include developing course outlines and lesson plans that align with NC Content Standards, securing educational resources, assessing students, and planning individualized programs of study. The instructor will also be responsible for maintaining student files, tracking attendance, completing required data forms, and participating in professional development activities.
