About the position

The ESOL Program Manager at Frederick Community College is responsible for overseeing the strategic operation and administrative functions of the Adult Education and ESOL department. This role includes managing non-credit and credit ESOL courses, advising students, scheduling classes, and staffing faculty. The manager will collaborate across departments to ensure program consistency and develop curriculum that aligns with various ESOL components, while also engaging with community agencies to enhance resource sharing.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement curriculum that bridges the three different ESOL components at the College.
  • Hire, train, mentor, and support Faculty, CEWD Adjunct Faculty and Dual Enrollment Adjunct Faculty, including observing classroom instruction and providing professional feedback.
  • Participate in review of curriculum process and ongoing evaluation of instructional effectiveness.
  • Identify professional development needs, plan, coordinate, and conduct professional development training to ensure learner achievement and improve instruction.
  • Incorporate technology and increase access to technology across the ESOL programs.
  • Provide academic advising for students, including interpretation of placement test results and development of a course of study, and interpretation of degree audits and curricular requirements.
  • Participate in Adult Education and ESOL team meetings to support student transition into Targeted and Academic ESOL.
  • Serve on College and campus-wide committees, engaging in activities that enhance the relationships the College has in the community.
  • Initiate and maintain connections with College services and community agencies, including Frederick County Public Schools and Frederick County Workforce Services, to facilitate resource sharing and referrals.
  • Facilitate implementation of Dual Enrollment ESOL courses in collaboration with the Dual Enrollment and Early College Coordinators and FCPS Dual Enrollment Coordinator.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Master's Degree in TESOL or Master's Degree in Education with a TESOL Certificate
  • Minimum two (2) years of experience in teaching at the college level
