ESPN Production Intern, Charlotte, Spring 2025

About the position

The internship at ESPN offers a unique opportunity to work with a leading sports entertainment brand, focusing on producing content for ESPN's networks, including live events and studio shows. Interns will collaborate with video editors and gain hands-on experience in various production tasks while contributing to the team's creative processes.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with video editors to produce high-level show content.
• Screen, log, transcribe, and clip footage for events.
• Organize head shots, element, and melt reels.
• Create shot sheets and cue sheets for assigned highlights.
• Log and archive video and associated data for future use.
• Cut show elements, such as video b-roll, highlights, and teases.
• Select material for bumps and roll-outs and suggest creative content during production meetings.
• Screen videotapes and/or servers and conduct research in the media asset management system to obtain material for production elements.
• Provide timely, accurate, and complete delivery of multimedia elements and publish to various platforms.
• Perform crew functions as needed during productions.

Requirements

• Experience in sports media, preferably in television production, or involvement with collegiate TV station.
• Elite knowledge of sports, including current athletes, rules, and events.
• Familiarity with server-based media and/or non-linear editing equipment including Final Cut Pro and Quantel.
• High level of familiarity with ESPN programming, platforms, and studio.

Nice-to-haves

• Historical knowledge of US sports.
• Experience with editing, screening, logging, and/or archiving video.
• Familiarity with sports business trends and technologies.
• Demonstrated leadership experience in a professional role, organization, or activity.
