The Essentials of Manufacturing (EOM) Development Program at Saint-Gobain North America is designed for recent graduates in engineering, particularly those with a focus on chemical engineering. This 18-month program aims to prepare participants for a dynamic career in manufacturing, particularly as the industry transitions into Manufacturing 4.0. Participants will engage in a series of challenges and learning experiences that will help them develop into thought leaders in the field. The program emphasizes the application of educational theory to practical manufacturing scenarios, encouraging participants to innovate and improve manufacturing processes. Throughout the program, participants will rotate through various plants across North America every three months, spending approximately one week at each location. This exposure allows them to learn about different business units, products, and operations while fostering camaraderie among their cohort. Each participant will be paired with a dedicated mentor who will provide guidance and support, helping them navigate the complexities of large and diverse business units. The EOM program is structured to challenge participants through hands-on projects that are critical to the business. They will receive training in lean manufacturing practices, data analytics, project management, and other essential skills. From the very beginning, participants will be empowered to take on responsibilities that yield concrete results, gaining invaluable experience in a condensed timeframe. Upon completion of the program, graduates will have the opportunity to apply for the Essentials Global Experience Program, which allows them to work on international projects with Saint-Gobain businesses worldwide, provided they have valid travel documentation. The program is not only about skill development but also about building a community. Participants are encouraged to step out of their comfort zones and embrace the learning opportunities presented to them. The program culminates in a placement within one of Saint-Gobain's nearly 160 sites across North America, although final placement is not guaranteed. The majority of graduates, however, find multiple options for their next role within the company.
