About the position

The Essentials of Manufacturing (EOM) Development Program at Saint-Gobain North America is designed to prepare participants for a dynamic career in manufacturing during a pivotal moment in the industry, often referred to as Manufacturing 4.0. This 18-month program offers a unique opportunity to engage with various manufacturing processes and technologies, providing a comprehensive understanding of the operations that drive the company. Participants will rotate through different plants across North America every three months, allowing them to gain hands-on experience and build camaraderie with fellow cohort members. Throughout the program, participants will work closely with a dedicated mentor who will guide them through the complexities of large and diverse business units. This mentorship is crucial for navigating the challenges of the manufacturing landscape and for personal career development. Participants will be tasked with projects that are critical to the business, pushing them to innovate and challenge traditional manufacturing practices. Training sessions will cover essential skills such as lean manufacturing, data analytics, project management, and effective presentation techniques, ensuring that participants are well-equipped to make a significant impact in their roles. The program emphasizes empowerment and responsibility from day one, with participants expected to deliver concrete results while gaining invaluable experience. Upon completion of the EOM Program, graduates will have the opportunity to apply for the Essentials Global Experience Program, which allows them to work on international projects with Saint-Gobain businesses worldwide. This global exposure is a key component of the program, as it prepares participants for a career that spans various industries and geographical locations. Responsibilities

  • Participate in an 18-month development program focused on manufacturing skills and exposure to Saint-Gobain operations.
  • Rotate through different plants every three months to learn about various businesses, products, and operations.
  • Work on priority projects that challenge existing manufacturing practices and contribute to business goals.
  • Engage in training sessions to develop technical and business skills, including lean manufacturing and data analytics.
  • Collaborate with a mentor to navigate diverse business units and gain insights for career development.
  • Prepare for a potential global experience by participating in international projects after program completion.

Requirements

  • B.S. in an engineering discipline, preferably Chemical Engineering.
  • Desire to travel, with a valid passport required for international travel.
  • Willingness to learn and step outside of comfort zones.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in manufacturing or engineering internships.
  • Familiarity with lean manufacturing principles.
  • Basic knowledge of data analytics tools.
