About the position

The Essentials of Manufacturing Engineer-Industrial Engineer position at Saint-Gobain is part of an 18-month development program designed to prepare participants for a dynamic career in manufacturing. This program is focused on the principles of Manufacturing 4.0, aiming to innovate and elevate the manufacturing industry. Participants will engage in a series of challenges, insights, and lessons that will shape them into future thought leaders in the field. The program emphasizes hands-on learning, mentorship, and exposure to various manufacturing environments across North America. Throughout the program, participants will spend approximately one week every three months at different plants, gaining insights into the company's diverse operations and building camaraderie with fellow cohort members. They will work on priority projects that challenge traditional manufacturing methods and will receive training in lean manufacturing practices, data analytics, project management, and more. The program is designed to empower participants, giving them responsibility for tangible results while providing invaluable experience in a condensed timeframe. Upon completion of the program, participants will have the opportunity to apply for the Essentials Global Experience Program, which allows them to work on international projects with Saint-Gobain businesses worldwide. This role requires a completed B.S. in an engineering discipline, a willingness to relocate and travel, and the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment. The program is structured to ensure that participants are well-prepared for their future roles within the company, with a focus on personal and professional growth.

Responsibilities

  • Participate in the Essentials of Manufacturing (EOM) Development Program for 18 months.
  • Engage in hands-on learning and classroom-based E-learnings to enhance manufacturing skills.
  • Work on priority projects that challenge existing manufacturing practices.
  • Travel to different plants every three months to learn about various operations and build camaraderie with peers.
  • Collaborate with a dedicated mentor to navigate through diverse business units and gain essential knowledge for career development.
  • Complete training in lean manufacturing practices, data analytics, project management, and presentation skills.
  • Contribute to the company's goal of innovating and elevating manufacturing processes.

Requirements

  • Completed B.S. in an engineering discipline (Industrial Engineering preferred).
  • Desire to relocate and travel, with valid passport required for international travel.
  • Willingness to learn and step out of comfort zones.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
  • No immigration sponsorship provided.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in manufacturing or engineering internships.
  • Familiarity with lean manufacturing principles.
  • Basic knowledge of data analytics tools.
