About the position

The Estate Planning Paralegal will support attorneys in a reputable law firm by assisting with the drafting and reviewing of estate planning documents, managing client information, and ensuring compliance with legal procedures. This role emphasizes confidentiality and requires strong organizational skills to handle sensitive client information effectively.

Responsibilities

  • Assist attorneys with the drafting and reviewing of estate planning documents, including wills, trusts, powers of attorney, and advance directives.
  • Prepare and file probate and trust administration documents with the court.
  • Coordinate and manage the collection of client information and documentation necessary for estate planning.
  • Maintain and organize client files, ensuring all documents are current and properly filed.
  • Communicate with clients, beneficiaries, and other parties to gather information and provide updates on case status.
  • Support attorneys during client meetings, including scheduling, preparing documents, and following up on action items.
  • Assist in the preparation of estate and trust accountings.
  • Monitor and track deadlines for filings and other important dates.
  • Provide administrative support to the estate planning team as needed.

Requirements

  • Paralegal certification or equivalent education/experience a plus.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience as a paralegal in estate planning, probate, or a related field.
  • Proficient in legal document preparation.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • High level of attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively.
  • Proficiency in using legal software and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with discretion.
