About the position

The Cosmetic Beauty Advisor plays a crucial role in the retail environment, reporting directly to the Sales Team Manager or Store Manager. This position is responsible for ensuring that the Belk direction is uniformly executed within the store, contributing to both sales and customer service excellence. The advisor is expected to meet or exceed personal sales per hour goals while serving as a role model for excellent selling skills and customer service. They will execute successful promotions, special events, and drive sales through effective customer clienteling. Collaboration with store management is essential to optimize business-to-business opportunities and achieve assigned sales goals, while also identifying and reducing shrinkage in their area. In terms of customer service, the Cosmetic Beauty Advisor is tasked with meeting or exceeding sales per hour (SPH) goals and credit application goals. They are expected to thank each customer by name following a purchase, handle transactions efficiently, and provide a high level of service that supports Customer Satisfaction Surveys (CSS). Building a clientele base and protecting personal identifying customer information are also key responsibilities. The advisor must maintain the floor and stock areas in accordance with store standards, ensuring hygiene and presentation requirements are met. This includes unpacking new merchandise promptly and ensuring that deliveries do not obstruct customer access to the department. The role also involves following procedures for various systems, including inventory control and markdowns, while maintaining professional dress standards. The advisor must cooperate with fellow associates and management, comply with store policies regarding attendance and tardiness, and accept additional duties as requested during busy times. Overall, the Cosmetic Beauty Advisor is integral to creating a positive shopping experience and driving sales within the store.

Responsibilities

  • Maintaining floor and stock areas consistent with store standards in presentation and hygiene requirements
  • Unpacking new merchandise in a timely manner
  • Ensuring timely set-up including signage for promotional events
  • Following procedures for all systems including AIR, counts, markdowns, retickets, inventory control, and RTV's
  • Maintaining Belk and vendor professional dress standards (uniforms) and appearance
  • Cooperating with fellow associates and management
  • Complying with store policies concerning attendance, tardiness, and associate handbook
  • Accepting additional duties or share responsibilities during busy times and/or as requested by Sales Team Manager/Assistant Store Manager/Store Manager
  • Assisting with all non-sell duties as assigned by Counter Manager/Sales Team Manager/Assistant Store Manager/Store Manager, where appropriate

Requirements

  • No education requirement
  • Experience in retail preferred
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Knowledge of retail store operations
