About the position

The Inside Estimator at Edelman-Lyon Automatic Door is responsible for promoting the sale of commercial automatic door products and services. This role involves engaging with contractors, architects, and end users to provide accurate estimates and solutions that drive revenue growth and customer acquisition. The estimator will read and interpret construction plans, prepare detailed estimates, and ensure customer satisfaction throughout the bidding process.

Responsibilities

• Work closely with architects, contractors, and customers to provide expert advice on hardware options and compliance with project specifications.
• Thoroughly read and interpret construction plans and specifications to determine the correct door package requirements.
• Prepare detailed and accurate estimates based on project specifications and requirements to customers and contractors within deadlines.
• Offer excellent customer service by responding to inquiries, addressing concerns, and providing follow-up on submitted estimates.
• Monitor the status of submitted estimates, follow up with customers and contractors to track the progress of bids.
• Assist in converting estimates into orders and ensuring smooth transitions to the project management team.
• Create accurately estimated proposals that include the work scope along with pertinent clarifications and/or exclusions related to the bid submission.
• Prospect qualified commercial construction leads gained through commercial bidding software (construct-connect/smart-bid/plan-hub,etc).
• Follow up on submitted bids in a timely manner.
• Work with general contractors' procurement and estimating teams to build relationships and gain projects for the company.
• Establish, develop, and maintain positive business and customer relationships.
• Responsible for prospecting, maintaining consistent customer contact and communication, along with aggressive follow up to achieve targeted growth.
• Continuously improve through feedback.

Requirements

• Minimum 2-5 years of experience in construction/door hardware estimating.
• Strong understanding of construction plans, specifications, and the commercial door industry.
• Ability to read blueprints and specifications.
• Excellent attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
• Ability to multi-task in a high volume, fast paced work environment with project deadlines.
• Understand basic computer applications and estimating software programs to prepare professionally written bids for projects of various size and scope.
• Excellent organizational, communication and analytical skills.
• Experience working out of a CRM.
