About the position

The Construction Estimator role focuses on preparing accurate cost estimates for roofing and siding projects by analyzing proposals, blueprints, and specifications. The position requires a strong understanding of construction processes, excellent numerical skills, and the ability to communicate effectively with clients and vendors. The estimator will contribute to strategic planning and operational efficiency by providing detailed and precise estimates.

Responsibilities

• Prepares work to be estimated by gathering proposals, blueprints, specifications, and related documents.
• Identifies specific labor, material, and time requirements by studying proposals, blueprints, specifications, and related documents.
• Computes costs by analyzing labor, material, and time requirements.
• Resolves discrepancies by collecting and analyzing information.
• Professionally communicates concerns/questions directly with clients to acquire vital information for the estimation process.
• Presents prepared roofing and siding estimates by assembling and displaying numerical and descriptive information.
• Prepares specific reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends.
• Maintains cost database by entering and backing up data.
• Visits sites, warehouses, and other venues to gather essential information regarding the project.
• Fosters relationships with key vendors (subcontractors, architects, etc.).
• Maintains technical knowledge by attending educational workshops and reviewing technical publications.
• Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.

Requirements

• Proven experience as an estimator in residential/commercial construction.
• Good understanding of exterior construction and ability to read plans.
• Basic understanding of accounting and project management concepts.
• Deep understanding of research methodology, data analysis, and estimation metrics.
• Comfortable with numbers and technology with an analytical mindset.
• Proficient knowledge of software: STACK, PLANSWIFT, and Xactimate.
• Great attention to detail.
• Excellent communication and negotiation abilities.
• Well-organized and reliable.
