About the position

The Estimator Specialist II role at Ahold Delhaize USA focuses on developing conceptual estimates for construction projects related to new stores, remodels, and acquisitions. This position plays a critical role in assisting executive management with decision-making regarding capital fund distribution and project planning. The specialist will collaborate with various departments to ensure accurate cost projections and will stay updated on construction cost trends to identify cost-saving opportunities.

Responsibilities

• Develop conceptual estimates for new stores, remodels, and takeover projects including development, site, and building costs.
• Prepare detailed cost estimates based on CAD generated design drawings.
• Develop estimates on new and current prototype formats for financial and functional analysis models.
• Coordinate with Construction Designers, Project Managers, and contractors to analyze pre-construction alternatives and change order requests.
• Conduct site-specific facility visits to provide recommendations for project estimates.
• Provide technical construction support to the Real Estate Department for conceptual cost budgets.
• Prepare special reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing cost data and trends.
• Maintain detailed cost keys and price masters with updated information.
• Attend educational workshops and review professional publications to maintain professional knowledge.
• Partner with Store Development Directors and cost estimators to improve estimating processes and share workloads.
• Review project bids and reconcile them with approved capital expenditures before contract awards.
• Onboard and train entry-level estimators on ADUSA methodology.

Requirements

• B.S. in Construction Management or equivalent field.
• Minimum of 5 years' experience in commercial construction or related experience.
• At least 2 years' experience in Commercial Construction Estimating.
• Experience in Commercial Construction Project Management and scheduling.
• Strong knowledge of design and construction methods, including alternative solutions and cost factors.
• Ability to read and interpret Architectural Construction drawings.

Nice-to-haves

• B.S. in Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture, Building Science, Business or related field.
• 5+ years' experience in Commercial Construction Estimating.
• 3 years' experience in Construction Project Management and scheduling.
• Strong background in business, finance, and construction economics.
