About the position

The Estimator position at Carbon Zero Buildings involves managing and creating construction plans for the installation of building electrification technologies in multifamily housing complexes across California. The role focuses on ensuring that designs meet project requirements, timelines, and quality standards while contributing to sustainability efforts in the construction industry.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct site visits to existing occupied multifamily properties throughout California for assessments.
  • Collect data from boiler rooms, electrical rooms, and occupied apartments to support plan development.
  • Synthesize information to design MEP systems that meet project requirements and fit existing building constraints.
  • Direct third-party engineers in developing construction plansets.
  • Review and manage the development of plansets, ensuring timely feedback incorporation from stakeholders.
  • Perform quality control processes on schematic and final plansets for accuracy and completeness.
  • Monitor and resolve open items necessary to finalize the design/engineering process.
  • Tailor template scopes of work to specific projects and provide material takeoffs for project managers.
  • Drive the process of incentive program reservation and incorporate requirements into plans and scopes.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field.
  • Proven experience as an engineer, ideally in MEP systems in existing multifamily buildings.
  • Strong understanding of mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems in multifamily buildings, with a focus on electrification technologies.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for engaging with project stakeholders.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines.
  • Proficiency in reading and reviewing MEP plansets.
  • Knowledge of building codes and regulations related to California MEP systems.
