About the position

The Estimator position at Himmel's Architectural Door and Hardware is crucial for the success of the Estimating Department, which serves as the backbone of the business. This role involves performing detailed take-offs, identifying relevant project specifications, and ensuring effective communication with customers and vendors to provide optimal solutions. The Estimator will utilize estimating software to input data accurately and generate clear proposals, while also following up on bids to maintain customer satisfaction.

Responsibilities

  • Perform take-offs, identify relevant drawings and details, and review specifications.
  • Identify door and hardware products that provide a competitive advantage while meeting project requirements.
  • Efficiently communicate and collaborate with customers, vendors, and architects to provide the best solutions for projects.
  • Accurately input door, frame, and hardware information into estimating software (Comsense).
  • Provide clear and precise proposals to customers.
  • Follow up on all bids to ensure customer satisfaction with scope and pricing.

Requirements

  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Proficient computer skills including Excel, Word, Outlook, and Bluebeam.
  • Excellent mathematical aptitude and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to perform effectively in a fast-paced environment both individually and as part of a team.
  • Self-motivated with a strong work ethic and a positive, helpful demeanor.
  • Excellent customer service skills.
  • Must pass drug and alcohol screening and complete random screenings.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience reading plans and specifications.
  • Experience using industry-specific estimating software (Comsense or Pro-tech).
  • Familiarity with the construction industry.
